Integrity is the second component of the CIA Triad. Integrity is all about making sure that files are accurate and unaltered. Incorrect data tends to accumulate over time, and organizations should have policies to periodically review and correct old data that may have become outdated. One of the most damaging things that a hacker could do is to alter critical information to conduct sabotage. Imagine if, in a nuclear power plant, the temperature gauges were altered to misread the correct temperature and allow the reactor to overheat: the results could be catastrophic!
